Grimnir

Grimnir stood before the stone-hewed chamber that held Conquest Hold's leadership. Flanked by Hoober and Vulcaen, the aged shaman had come to assess Conquest's defenses and judge its suitability for the Blacktooth Grin.

"Lok'tar, Conquerer." Grimnir bowed low before Krenna, the settlement's commander and well-known firebrand. "Thank you for receiving us."

Krenna nodded, curtly. "You are welcome here, orcs. What business does the Grin bring to the Grizzly Hills?"

Grimnir knew his delegation was in a delicate position. The Warsong Offensive's position vis-a-vis a semi-fringe group like the Blacktooth Grin was nebulous at best. Garrosh and his commanders were certainly to be more receptive to the Grin's philosophy than Thrall, but the young Hellscream still owed his ultimate loyalty to the Horde Expeditionary Forces, commanded from Orgrimmar. So it was confusing.

But Grimnir was willing to wager that Garrosh had been fairly flexible in his orders to his various regional commanders. The old shaman had heard rumors that Hellscream had begun to clash with both Thrall and Saurfang over strategy and tactics, with the young Mag'har favoring a more aggressive and bloodthirsty approach. A Blacktooth approach.

All of this lent import to the seemingly innocuous conversation that would occur between Grimnir and Krenna. Grimnir would seek the Conqueror's tacit approval for a Grin presence in the Grizzly Hills, if not a stated one. Which brought him back to the question...what brought the Grin to Conquest Hold?

"We have travelled long and hard, across the Dragonblight, to show our commitment to all true Horde forces on Northrend," Grimnir explain. Did Krenna catch the slight emphasis he'd put on the world "true"? No matter. "We're to analyze our defensive positions and make preparations for a continent-wide tactical response plan."

Krenna narrowed her eyes. "Are you suggesting that we might need your assistance, shaman? I assure you, we have things well in hand here."

"No, no." Grimnir held up a placating hand. "The might of this fortress and the Warsong Offensive are clear for all to see. But the balance of power on this continent has not even begun to establish itself. The various factions continue to establish their positions and see to their fortifications. But soon enough, total war will ravage these forsaken Northlands, and when such a time comes, we all would do well to know where our allies stand." His voice was heavy with double meaning.

Krenna nodded, relaxing slightly. "Well spoken, shaman. I grant that both myself and my second, Gorgonna" - Krenna gestured with a gloved hand to a female orc warrior standing nearby - "have been most impressed with the exploits of your Clan as of late. News of your strike at the Alliance airstrip on the tundra has reached us even here."

"Ah, yes." Grimnir nodded. "We have established ourselves at Bor'gorak, and there we seek to deny the Alliance the benefits of free passage from Valliance to their other strongholds. But it is only the beginning. We must now look to expansion."

"You wish to ask me for something?" Krenna inquired.

"Hurr. You might say that," Grimnir responded, pausing to consider his words. "We ask that you allow us to establish a presence here, in the Hills, based out of Conquest Hold. We'd especially like to bring some of our younglings here, for training and resource gathering."

Krenna's nostrils flared. "Resource gathering? You plan to deprive us of lumber, and stone, and meat?"

"No, Conquerer." Grimnir grinned. "Everything we take will be subtracted from the Alliance's resource total, not your own."

Krenna reluctantly grinned herself, before casting her eyes towards Gorgonna's. The other orc paused, then nodded briefly.

Krenna turned back to Grimnir, Hoober, and Vulcaen. "Very well. Establish your presence. Just...keep it quiet."

Signe

(( Just to let you know, Grim... when you complete the group quests in Conquest Hold, Krenna is killed and Gorgonna takes over leadership. Not all Grin will still see Krenna once those quests are complete because of the phasing. Shouldn't matter much for Grin purposes, though! ))

Yagyu

The biting cold of Dragonblight was beginning to seep into Yagyu's bones. He didn't remember feeling this cold before. Even when tromping through the snows of Azeroth he hadn't been this cold. Was it this place or was he just getting old? He shivered internally and was about to pull the wolfskin hide from his pack before he remembered where he was.

No that wouldn't do. He was here at Agmar's Hammer to speak with Overlord Agmar and show him the strength of Grin. Arriving like a frozen pinkie wouldn't impress the Overlord. Standing up straight he strode into the hall and approached the throne of Agmar. He looked the massive orc square in the eyes as he saluted. The salute was crisp and proper but with an air of superiority that earned a slight grin from the Overlord.

"Throm'ka Overlord" Yag said, his eyes locked to Agmar's.

"Lok'tar Chieftan" replied the fortress leader. "I have heard your battlecry echoing throughout this region a lot lately." Agmar's eyes narrowed a bit at Yagyu. "Yer clan serves Thrall now then?"

Yagyu held Agmar's gaze steadily as his grin widened showing the gap in his front teeth.
"Hardly Agmar." The Overlord reacted imperceptibly to Yag's informal tone.
"The Grin serves me an' me alone." he held his necklace out for Agmar to see. "This is strength of my clan Overlord, an' the Dread Horde brings far more with it. We are not here to serve but to assist. We are here to be sure that the Horde claims this god-forsaken piece of ice."

Agmar thought for a moment before responding. "Then what is it yew want from me?"

"The Grin is strong but we are far from our home and we will be in need of supplies while here. My Sythegars are out as we speak looking for Horde encampments that will support us. But I decided that Agmar's Hammer wuz special. That's why I came myself."
Yagyu thought he detected a slight hint of a smile at the corner of the orcs fanged mouth.
"I propose this...yew give the Grin shelter an' supplies here in Dragonblight. In return we will defend this stronghold as we would our home in Stonard."

Agmar nodded as Yagyu spoke.
"Our defenses could use the extra strength Chieftain. We've not been fully manned by the Horde yet." The Overlord drummed his fingers on his throne as he mulled the proposition over but Yagyu could see he was not yet convinced.
"I'll need some time to think it over Yagyu. Come back in two days. I'll have an answer for you then" Agmar pused for a moment then added "...and bring an appetite when you return."

It was not the response he hoped for but Yagyu's face betrayed nothing. Smiling he saluted again.
"Blood and Thunder Overlord."

Agmar returned the salute.
"Fear the Grin Cheiftain!"

Yagyu

Yagyu was full and happy. The roast boar was excellent and tasted fresh and the bourbon was already getting to his head. Apparently it was affecting Agmar as well as the Overlord guffawed loudly at the table.

"Har har! That was a good one Cheiftain! I think now, if I ever see a dwarf in a bar with a wooden leg I may just fall over laughing instead of killing the ankle-biter!"

Yag stiffled a chuckle.

"Glad ya liked it Agmar. But I do have some business to discuss with ya."

Overlord Agmar's laughter disapated as he waited for the orc to continue.

"I know ya still aren't fully manned from Warsong jus' yet. But the Grin are in need of food, lodging, and supplies in Northrend."

Agmar's grin changed to a grimace as he shook his head.

"I must be honest Chieftain...we simply cannot support all of your forces right now. We don't have enough for ourselves."

Yagyu was about to protest but Agmar held up his hand, showing he still had more to say.

"....but...should your troops be in need of shelter after a battle, you are welcome here. We will do what we can to assist your efforts Chieftain, but I can simply cannot make promises now."

Yagyu nodded. Disappointment was evident in his eyes but his gaze remained steady.

"I had a feelin' yew wuz gunna say that." The Grin Warchief looked hard at the orc sitting across from him. "Lissen ta me Agmar...war is coming here. An' we're bringing it. My Warlord has already order the Grin to raid the Alliance towns in this zone for supplies. If we're sucessful...mebbe yew'll have a different tune then."

The slightest hint of a smile emerged at the corner of Agmar's lips.

"I believe you Yag. Your clan is not unknown in these parts already." he throught for a moment then said "Let's see how many supplies you are able to take from these pinkers. Perhaps it be a good thing to have you here."

The two orcs raised their mugs in a boisterous toast as servants went scurrying to scounge more bourbon. It would obviously be a long night.
