Soulbinding

Fearing Virroth’s influence, Talukah allows Bok’theg, Roodaka, and Shaddoth to separate and bind her soul at the Altar of Damnation. The ritual may shield her from corruption, but it leaves her weakened and awakens an eerie response in the shard Bok’theg carries.

The warlocks said the fiery burn in my chest meant the spell was working and it would protect Talukah. The one warlock kept hissing at her, it was disconcerting. But it said something about light casting shadows, Talukah hoped she wasn't abandoning The Light having these shadowy manipulators mess with her soul.

Quite a few moons ago, Talukah had met with some of the shadow dancers and they had offered a plan of protection against the new entity in the Blacktooth Grin. Since that time other formidable acquaintances had offered help secretly, but none had as solidified an offer as the warlock, Bok'theg. Talukah was young and innocent, too trusting, and truth be told on the naive side, thinking that the Light would protect her and the Grinclan always.

She had spent months lurking in the shadows of Stonard making sure she was out of sight of the deathknight Virroth, who recklessly ignored and continues to ignore the consequences of his actions. But she had to make a decision now about letting the warlocks work their dark magic. In a days time Virroth had something planned, Talukah was afraid. She called upon Bok'theg.

The Altar of Damnation was the meeting place, and the diminutive blood elf braved her way through Shadowmoon Valley, her heart raced and her breath quickened.

It was hazy either from the spells of the three warlocks or from her fear. They tried to get Talukah to relax; her soul was dependent on the spell working and her mind and body needed to accept that. But the burning and the chanting and the smoke made her head swirl. And then the pain in her chest, and the visions in her head of purple spiraling vapor percolating around her and in her made her fear she would never make her way back to The Light she believed in, The Light that healed the Grinclan. Her hands tightened into fists..."let loose your fists". Her breaths, short and shallow..."slow your breathing". Groans escaped her mouth..."Talukah you've got to relax, to let the spell work to bind your soul".

After a while the chanting was done, and Talukah did not know how long she was upon the altar. Her chest burned and she felt to weak to rise. She heard the warlocks talking, and tried to sit up. They looked at her and tried to instruct her, that she'd be weak for a while, and to take it easy. They seemed pleased with themselves that her soul burned, they said the binding was working.

Shaddoth held Talukah's soul tightly as the ritual was finishing. Roodaka and Bok'theg channeled their energy's to seperate the soul from Talukah.

Shaddoth had no real imput beforehand of what was going on, only that he was needed to start a ritual that removes ones soul so they can be free from whomever looms over them with authority, or intimidation.

Looking at the soul, he sees marks....scars that have seemed to be healed by light. Just what exactly was Virroth doing to Talukah?

Clouds passed across the face of the moon, making the already dismal Shadowmoon Valley seem even darker. The orc had to strain his eyes to keep view of the figure staggering away from the altar. The once lithe form of the Sin’dorei now appeared battered and broken even though there was no physical damage. But it was clear to any observer the ritual had taken its toll.
As the three warlocks watched the priestess depart, Shaddoth was the first to speak.

“As long as she rests she should recover easily.”

Despite the optimistic tone, his words rang hollow.
Bok’theg and Roodaka simply nodded in agreement, each quietly contemplating the potential divergent paths this action would create. Bok’theg knew that while the binding would insulate Talukah’s soul from any of Virroth’s corruption, there was no way of telling what permanent after-affects might occur. There was also no telling what Virroth might do once he discovered one of his Mok’gun had been….altered….by the Lak’gora. The coming weeks would prove interesting indeed.

The warlock smiled to himself as he fingered the shard that hung from the chain around his neck. A dull glow on his finger caught his attention. Holding the shard up he saw it now glowed faintly. It didn’t pulsate the way it used to but there was a new oddness about it. As his eyes returned to Talukah’s retreating form, a soft voice began to speak within the depths of his mind.
