Bok’theg. It was the only name she had been cursing in her brain for the last several weeks. Eydrana had more then enough and this was it as far as she was concerned, her patience had grown more then thin. It was gone.
First it started as nose bleeds. But then the power sapped her energy and then the coughing started. Once that had concluded it was blood pouring from her eyes in the form of tears. The elder elf knew her time on this world was coming to an end.
She set her affairs in order. Her first decision was to make sure her apprentice was going to be accepted. She gave the woman all of her gold, her possessions and what few titles she had that remained. “Arisesha” she said softly coughing into her bloodied hankerchief.
“You must promise me that you will do as I ask” Eydrana ordered.
The younger elf seemed to understand. “As you wish” she said.
Eydrana’s cold hand grasped the girl. “Sylvanas sent you to me to learn. You have done well but do not think for one moment that the fact that she or I have given you any graces, that you deserve more then you have earned. You will be a Grot girl. It will not be pleasant. You need to be pushed down a peg.” She said.
The younger woman nodded her head. “I’m sorry mistress if you think for any reason I am aarogant” she began. She was answered with a slap.
“That is the end of it girl. Do not disapoint me. Do you understand?” Eydrana added.
“Yes ma’am.” The younger rubbed her cheek. An hour later after further understanding she left Eydrana.
Eydrana then began work on a letter.
“Bok’Theg, my time has come and you owe me a service. Since I am not able to give you said directive in person I hereby give my wish to Grimnir to be carried out as he wishes. You will honor this warlock. By your hand this contract is binding and by my hand Grimnir shall be the one that uses my wish.
Sincerely in Death,
Eydrana Arduin”
She then got up and rolled the letter with the scroll made of demon flesh, the contract she had written with Bok’theg, into a tiny bundle and encased this in leather. Putting this together she bound it. She would give it to Grimnir.
She got up and made herself presentable. She then gathered a few things together and headed to Dalaran. She wanted to say goodbye to her city. Once again the guards were looking for her but this time she didn’t make it as clear that she was hiding. She sat in the square eating a picnic lunch of which she had maybe four bites and then she ran into Londra. While they had a brief conversation it was clear the older elf knew her time was coming to an end. So she implored upon the Sythagar to please let her apprentice take her place in Eydrana’s stead.
After the conversation she went back to Stoneard. Now that the grin was mostly gone from it she was in relative silence as she made her way back to her familiar bed. Lieing down it wasn’t too long before Cailos came knocking.
“I have found Grimnir” he said. She smiled. Now she could die and maybe redeam her soul in the process.
The trip was arduious. She couldn’t bare to be in the cold. So when they landed in Conquest Hold she colapsed on the ground and began mumbling incoharently.
Mido looked on at her with concern and then turned to Cailos “Is she .. quite alright?”
Cailos’s brow furrowed “No, I’m afraid not” he said. Londra who had seen her only a couple of hours earlier turned to the fallen elf. “Eyd?” she asked.
“How many of you were there the other night when Gor returned?” Cailos asked trying to explain how long he had seen this.
Many of the Grin perked up.
“I was” Zeverus said and stepped closer. He watched in horror as blood began to ooze out of her nose and onto the ground.
“Do you remember the box with the crystal that was used on Gor?” Cailos continued.
There was silence as more blood gushed forth from Eydrana’s nose. Londra looked on with her growing concern. Cailos sent Xecrix to get some water for her. Zeverus kneeled closer to the fallen mage.
She was mumbling in another language. It wasn’t orcish and it wasn’t Thassarian. No she was mumbling in what sounded like Darnassian. Widening his eyes in shock Zeverus mumbled. “It couldn’t be.” And moved clsoer to her.
“Eyd, wake up” he said to her moving his hand into his sleeve. He pulled free a healing potion. She seemed to see and understand what he was trying to do. Before she could reply she began couging further and the pain was very visable on her face.
“Drink this Eyd, it’s a healing potion” he said.
She moved her hand beckoning him closer and her voice was soft. “Waste it not my friend for it will not work. You keep it” she mumbled.
“Whats ailing you?” he asked reaching for the blanket that the Grot Xedrix had brought along with water. Zeverus began covering her up.
“Magic my friend.. this is all Magic’s fault” she said and began coughing again then wiped her mouth and nose once more with her bloodied rag.
“Well if you won’t waste a potion try some water. It will keep your strength up.” He said giving her some of the cool water.
“I have little left my family, I need Grimnir” she said. “I need to redeam my soul”
Zeberus’s eyes narrow slightly and he looks at Cailos “Any news on Grimnir?” he asks.
“He said he would meet us here” Cailos said and began to pace looking for the shaman. Zeberus slams his fist into the dirt.
“Let’s just hope he can get here in time Zev” he said.
Londra meanwhile leans over talking to Signe. Her concern was ever mounting.
“For those of you that don’t know the former warchief Gorfrunch has returned in some form. What form that is I am not sure” Cailos explained to the growing group of Grin that was circling around them.
As he speaks blood begins to cover Eydrana’s face in the form of tears from her left eye. The rest leaks from her nose. She never calls out or cries in any sort of pain. She just made a very miserable pained noise.
Zeverus was continueing to have mounting concern and moved closer to her. As the time ticked on she ranted about how in her opinion the Sin’Dorei were wrong. They never should have tamped with magic and only that she wanted something to redeam herself.
It wasn’t until Macabeus showed up and began his normal Elf hating mantra that she even smiled. She made it clear if there was any carcus left of her he needed to eat it.
Knowing time was close she handed Signe the leather bag that had the contract in it along with the last of her words be sent to Bok’theg. She demanded the Orc did not open it or use it. She demanded that Signe give it to Grimnir. Within minutes Eydrana’s bleeding was worse. She apologized to Gorfunch and also asked that someone punch Bok’theg in the eye for her.
“Goodbye family” she said as her body began to pulse and the ice around her formed. The temperature was increasingly colder. “Fear the Grin”
Like ash into the wind she disapeared but she was gone and faded away. Eydrana, lady Arduin, the daughter of ages was dead. Her memory would be there but she was never truly able to redeam herself in her lifetime.
