Lakotu Windfeather was born into a brute tribe of Tauren in which his father, Duruk Windfeather, was the chieftain. This tribe had been at war with the neighboring quillboar for several years. Many attempts at peace have utterly failed, for the barbaric ways of the quillboar would not allow such a thing.
"Will it ever end?", Lakotu often asked his father as a young tauren. "Only time and battle will tell", replied Chieftain Windfeather.
Many tribesmen have been lost in battles to maintain peace among this land. In the present day, Lakotu's tribe has been deeply wounded, constantly being pushed back by the savage quillboar. The lands surrounding the once great village of the Windfeather Tribe, are now a barren wasteland, strewn with the rotted corpses of their long-passed Tauren brethren. Tribesmen would often visit these lands and mourn for the fallen.
But there is hope for the tribe. One restless night several years later, Lakotu was awoken to what he thought was awoken by a great raucus outside his small hut."By the Great Earthmother, who's there?", yelled Lakotu.
A spirit of nature then came down from the heavens and spoke of unimaginable things. "Young tauren. Do not fear, for your tribe is not yet forsaken.", whispered the voice in a fading tone. "You have a power within you, that only needs to be awoken." Lakotu stared blankly at this manifestation, confused at what it spoke of. "Seek out those of the Cenarion Circle, they will aid you in your journey." Then, as swift as the spirit came, it was gone.
A few days of peace passed, but they were soon to be interrupted. A young scout rushed into the hut of the Tribal Council. "Young tauren, what news do you bring?", said Chieftain Windfeather. "Quillboar...crossing the outlying river...we must...ready the tribe", exclaimed the scout, tired from his journey back to the village.
"Windfeathers! Quillboars are marching towards our village at this very moment. We must be prepared!" At that moment, the tribe's finest warriors were assembled to lay down a frontline for this battle.
As the quillboar rose up over the hill, their mass numbers were revealed. Duruk exclaimed, "What savagery is this? We are outnumbered!" The tribe's warriors tried to hold them back, but they were quickly overtaken by the bloodthirsty, barbaric forces of the quillboar.
Duruk yelled, "Lakotu, take what's left of the tribe and lead them to the mountains!" Lakotu followed his father's orders, though not right away. As the remaining Windfeather Tribe fled up the mountain pass behind the village, Lakotu hid in the brush, watching the battle.
"Noooooo!", yelled Lakotu, as he witnessed the Quillboar Warlord execute his father with a monstrous war axe.
Lakotu then fled back up the mountain pass. Witnessing such a savage end to his father's life, Lakotu felt a power within him beginning to stir. Remembering, the spirit of nature who visited him a few nights before, he set out on a path to seek out the Cenarion Circle, harness the power of nature, and restore the Windfeather Tribe to its former glory!
