A Day in the Life

Two quiet infirmary snapshots follow Mido welcoming an unexpected snakebite case during a dull night shift and Talukah checking on a young warlock wounded in a successful raid. An OOC invitation frames the thread as a place for further Mok'gun cases, confessions, and sermons.

Mido sits in the infirmary, restless. Two hours, she reminds herself. Two hours until sunrise and her duty here would be over. The night had been uneventful, which had made her wait even more agonizing. The only occupants of the small ward were a sleeping orc and his tired old wolf. He had not proved to be a particularly exciting companion- he had drank his fill of dream wine, had been sleeping through his infection since Mido's last shift.

Despite nights like this, Mido was finding her work with the Mok'gun fairly enjoyable. Nothing about it provoked her nightmares, she wasn't messing with any spirits, it was simple busy work that allowed her to earn her keep.

A cacophony of shouts rings out in the courtyard outside. The troll sits up, her ear trained on the nearest window. She tries to make out the cause of the noises.

"Legion be damned..."
"Ey mon, move it, dis mon's gotta snake bite!"
"It'll be fine."
"Friend, you don't walk those kind of things off."

Mido stands and prepares herself for the welcome bit of company that pushes its way into the door.

Just what it says, a Day in the Life. Put interesting case files, confessions and sermons here?

Talukah was up early, smiling and bright-eyed. (Her recent fears have not come to pass, the problems seem far away from the Grin. For now.) There was a jaunt in her step as she walked over to the kitchen to grab a cup of honeymint tea and some freshly baked crusty bread. Not having time to sit down, she hustled over to the infirmary to check on a grot who was ushered in last night, after a successful raid on a distant township.

Seeing the warlock sleeping contentedly and the regular rise and fall of his chest, Talukah felt relieved. The recruit was young and newly inducted, and from the look of him last night he took a beating, but in spite of that his courage was enlivening. She didn't wake him, he was probably enjoying some conquering dream, she liked to think. She would change his bandages and poultices later, after the victory of his dreams.
