The Gar'mak's Notes

Interesting day today. It’s strange where a notion can get you.

I can’t stress enough that I was a zealot in Zul’Farrak, but as far as I’m concerned, there’s no force in the world of Azeroth worth getting zealous over. I don’t have plans to change the world or to please some perceived higher power.

I spoke up today when Felora and Margar started their calls for numbers not really because I oppose the idea of guards or healers, but there’s an opportunity both passed over.

That opportunity, as I see it, is destructive, war-based research. People pay good money for weapons. People pay good money for protection. Safety and destruction, these are two products that will never go out of style.

So you have a bunch of people practicing demon magic? Talking to the dead?

Well, sounds like you have a team.

I’ve vowed over and over and over that I will never again sleep on a dirt floor, wear the scraps of cloth people toss me in pity, or beg. And right now, while I’m young, it’s been easy to balance my many jobs. Baby-sitting at night, the weekends I picked up a double-gig serving beverages on a goblin aircraft as well as purchasing certain less savory supplies from Thunderbluff to haul back to the base.

My days were occupied with the duties the clan gave me.

And between all that and partying I wasn’t really sleeping all that much, or enjoying my time.

Leading a cult of dark casters? Easy gig. And if I’m clever I can probably save away something for retirement.

All that aside, some notes:

1 week- present viable and lucrative research to the Overlord, get the Lak’gora firmly put in place.

Ossia- wards
checking territorial wards
supply lines for materials
armor and weapon wards

Nimithriel- artifact?
grot named lore knows location of some artifact
expensive? sellable?
extensive psychological knowledge

Rashanda- natural defenses
landscapes? want walls of fire
callable blizzards
etc etc.

tents for rockard, want to be mobile
go to booty bay, purchase a stylish wallpaper for my new headquarters.

That is all, for now. I will try to log my daily interactions with my new team, as well as observations.

Entry: 25 October

Gar’mak. A term I have not heard in many years. It does my aging ears good to hear it spoken within our clan. … our clan. How quickly I say that now. Has the Grin truly become my clan? And why should they not? My own is long dead and gone. Only these rebels and outcasts will have me and despite my best machinations to the contrary, they still see me as a force to help the clan raise itself up above the mewling masses that call themselves Horde. So be it.

I do accept them as my own now for they are. We have shed blood together and many of them thirst for the same knowledge and power as I do. I feel a new strength within the Grin. The bloodlust has returned and we are bounded closer to the power of the Nether than ever before. Perhaps it is my destiny to use my knowledge to infuse new strength into these slavering maniacs.

I will begin with the Lak’gora. My meetings with some of their most dedicated members has already proven fruitful. They thirst for power in a way not satisfied by that charlatan of a troll that was leading them. I will show them the true way and a new path to the Human kingdoms will be laid with the corpses of our enemies.

Entry: 31 October

An auspicious entry as it is the end of Hallow's Eve. The ritual today went about as well as could have been expected. The Lak’gora present were up to the task and a successful outcome was achieved. The fact that some of the present Lak’gora have worked summoning rituals with me in the past was a distinct benefit. The presence of Vhares established a credibility for the unit that I would not have been able to achieve on my own. Nimithriel’s strength allowed her to contain the demon and the resolve shown by Vhares, Roodaka and Golgrom certainly forced its hand.

The only remaining task is divining the true nature of the cryptic information we received. Of course, as Golgrom pointed out…the words of one demon are not be trusted on their own merit. We must verify. More work lies ahead of us and yet I think the Chieftain will quickly see the value of this unit.

Entry: 9 December

I can see a horizon and it fills me with wonder. In two days time we will enter uncharted territory. Those few who walk with me will revel in the accomplishment I know we will achieve. This is the first of many great undertakings. Lak’gora remains nothing more than a little-known murmur on the winds of Stonard. Soon however, it will be a whispered word of power that will instill dread even in our own kin. And it will all begin with the bravery (or despair ) of a single member of our Clan. The experiment to come will mark the beginning of a new era.

While the Gol’kosh lead the Clan into battle with their fearsome warcries and grotesque tattoos, and Virroth’s Mok’gun pray to their Blood Spirits for healing power, the Lak’gora will lurk in the shadows and strike at the enemy’s soul. Our nether-magics will tear the spirit from their bodies while our Nameless weapons tear their limbs from their bodies.

Often I hear the voice inside my head that emanates from within the gem around my neck. It whispers to me of hidden power and I follow it to my unknown fate.
