Souls Too Many, Souls Too Few

After discussing Hoober's dependence on consumed souls, Gorfrunch offers him the soul of his body's original owner in hopes of breaking Bok'theg's binding. Their improvised ritual fails violently, leaving Hoober to conclude that the problem requires more research.

Hoober

(In conquest hold, at Gorfrunch's completion of his tale upon Hoober's return)

[Gorfrunch]: *Gorfrunch sits back and grins, having finished his tale.*
[Hoober]: It seems we've both had our trials.
[Mido]: Mido looks down at the table, picking up the paper mana wyrm and inspecting it curiously.
[Hoober]: *A rat rounds a corner. Hoober jumps to his feet, and sets it ablaze with shadowy flame - and extracts its tiny rodent soul, basking in the strength it gives*
[Zeverus]: [Glances at Hoober's actions.] "Careful there, Hoober. Don't want to become like one of those soul vampires up north."
[Hoober]: While that is a valid concern, it is more important to be concerned with the strength of my own soul.
[Mido]: Mido tries to unfold the mana wyrm. "How do you strengthen a soul?"
[Hoober]: Do not turn down this path, mage.
[Zeverus]: "In his case? By using other souls to fill in the gaps." [Points a thumb at Hoober.] "Messy business, really."
[Hoober]: *nods*
[Mido]: Mido stares at the unfolded piece of paper, beginning to try to mimic Zeverus's actions. "Quite.. unfortuante."
[Hoober]: Without them, I might be returned to the nether. Without them, I cannot weild this power flowing through me.
[Hoober]: My body is saturated with fel energies I cannot collect. It yearns to be released.
[Hoober]: I kill two birds with one stone.
[Zeverus]: "Be careful, Hoober."
[Gorfrunch]: I have an offer, Hoober.
[Hoober]: *grumbles at Zeverus, and looks to Gorfrunch*
[Gorfrunch]: *Gorfrunch moves over and motions for Hoober to join him in a side room.*
[Hoober]: *nods and follows*

[Gorfrunch]: I have an extra soul I have no need of.
[Gorfrunch]: If I could be rid of it, I would no longer need to be bound to this body.
[Gorfrunch]: Lifting Bok'theg's bindings would not harm me at all.
[Hoober]: Oh? That of your body's original owner?
[Gorfrunch]: Yeh.
[Gorfrunch]: Nothing against the whelp, but I need what's his.
[Hoober]: Are we sure that is safe? You seem confident, but I do not wish to do anything without those who bound you here.
[Gorfrunch]: Do I look like a warlock to you?
[Gorfrunch]: My only knowledge of this is personal experience.
[Hoober]: I suppose the consumption of his soul would release him, as well as you.
[Hoober]: Very well.
[Hoober]: Are you prepared?
[Gorfrunch]: Are there any precautions that could be taken?
[Hoober]: I intend to enlist the help of an ally, one who knows souls even better than I.
[Hoober]: *an [Ethereal Soul-Trader] appears* Trader: Yes, Hoober? Is there profit to be had?
[Hoober]: *nods, pointing at Gor* 1000 credits.
[Hoober]: *the trader smirks, and starts to emit a shimmering beam, surrounding Gor*

[Hoober]: *The building starts to rumble, a faint purple hue appears*
[Mido]: Mido sits up, looking around. She cringes momentarily.
[Hoober]: ((Everything tastes purple for a second))
[Hoober]: *Hoober raises his hands, his eyes wreathed in black flame*
[Hoober]: [Demonic] DAZ'MAZ
[Hoober]: [Demonic] A ARCHIM DAZ XI RAKKAS
[Mido]: Mido presses a hand against her stomach but pushes herself to a stand anyways- cautiously moving towards what seems to be the source of the shouting.
[Hoober]: *the hue fades, and the rumble stops*
[Hoober]: *Hoober's beam breaks, he falls to the floor, bleeding from the eyes*
[Hoober]: *gasping* I'll... need... more help.
[Gorfrunch]: *vomits*
[Mido]: Mido raps her knuckles against the door to the sideroom. "Sir?"

[Hoober]: *the door opens - Hoober crawling out wiping blood from his face*
[Hoober]: We'll... be fine, grot.
[Gorfrunch]: *Gorfrunch is kneeling in the room beyond, looking down into a pool of vomit.*
[Mido]: Mido looks between the two with a frown. With a cringe she casts a renew on both of them.
[Hoober]: *Hoober stands, pours a two lagers, and brings one to Gorfrunch* Better 'n magic.
[Hoober]: *Hoober downs the other*
[Gorfrunch]: *coughs* Aka'magosh. That didn't work, did it?
[Gorfrunch]: *Gorfrunch pours his down his throat.*
[Hoober]: Your situation is more complex than anticipated.
[Hoober]: This will require research.
[Mido]: Mido rubs the back of her neck awkwardly, looking between the two, and the ground.
[Mido]: "If you need a research assistant, sir, I have... a bit of experience with these sorts of things. And I'm fairly organized."
[Hoober]: No offense, grot... but if you have experience with these things, I doubt you'd be so cheery.
[Gorfrunch]: *cough* Grot. Cleanup back there.
[Gorfrunch]: Research that.
