For as long as she could remember, Signe Skullsplitter held a bow in her hands and had an animal at her side.
Her parents were Orc farmers who had been rounded up and placed in an internment camp in the Arathi Highlands. They, along with a handful of others, managed to escape before the lethargy took over, and hid in the mountains in the north, near the border of Hillsbrad. It was here that Signe was born. Her parents noticed that the small creatures in the area were drawn to their daughter. Before she could even crawl there was a rabbit or squirrel at her makeshift cradle. When she could walk, her father gave her a tiny bow and small quiver of arrows for amusement. Her talent was soon evident, and by the time she was 10 she was the primary source for meat in the small encampment. She would hunt with her wolf Howl by her side, and only kill what was needed for her family.
When Signe was in her mid-teens, there was word that a change had taken place in the internment camps, and that many had escaped. It was heard that a large group had gone across the sea to find a new home, and were following Thrall, the son of Durotan. It was decided that they would do the same, and they traveled to the sea. They found many other orcs waiting to commandeer a human ship. It was here that Signe met a young warrior, Thyrog "Grimface" Skullsplitter. She found him arrogant and annoying, but was drawn to his strength and talent. Once they reached Kalimdor, however, they would be separated for many years as Grimface went to defend the World Tree.
Signe's talent as a marksman was put to use in the new settlement called Durotar. She would train those interested in using a bow, and began to learn for herself how to use a gun, which she had picked up in the human areas back in Lordaeron. Her beloved wolf, Howl, was left behind, and she found a new companion in a raptor named Gutbuster. Her parents went back to their farming ways in the Barrens, but Signe stayed in Orgrimmar, knowing her purpose was for something much bigger. Signe is fairly mild-mannered for an orc, and doesn't have ill-will towards anyone except for humans. She still held lasting resentments for the treatment of her parents and of her race. It was because of this that she also questioned the new orc leader, Thrall. She didn't understand the complacent attitude he held towards his former captors.
