((sorry if my Grin lore isnt spot on. New to the guild :) ))
Gad nodded to the flighmaster has he dismounted the beast. He stretched and took in the sights and smells of Hammerfall, the small Horde outpost at the edge of the Arathi Highlands. Snapping back to the matters at hand he made sure he had all his gear and ran towards the Defiler's command post just outside the entrance to Arathi Basin. The post was bustling with activity as many Defilers, all undead, scurried supplies in and out of the cave that led to the battlefield.
"Welcome Gad. Glad to see you here." spoke the Defilers duty officer sitting at a table near a stack of supplies.
"Always here to help out the Defilers and the Horde." answered Gad back.
"Good, good! There is a hell of a fight going on in there right now." spoke the undead Defiler. "The League has thrown everything they have at us this afternoon."
Gad nodded, checked his gear one more time and ran into the cave..........
When he emerged into the Basin he could smell the blood right away. Several bodies of Horde soldiers and Alliance soldiers lay scattered outside the Defiler's Den. He ran towards the building.
"You there! You a healer?!" yelled a gutteral voice behind him.
Gad turned and saw an Orc sitting on the steps of the Den. His waist and legs covered in blood. He had a bad stomach wound and looked close to death. Gad immediatly ran towards him and mumbled some prayers. He reached towards the Orc and cast a powerful spell of great healing. The Orc began to look better right away. His wound began to close.
Still weak the orc spoke, "the fighting has been heavy. They pushed us all the way back here but we regrouped and drove them back to the blacksmith, but we are losing the lumber mill, as we speak."
Gad nodded and cast a spell of renewal on the orc. He reached into his pack for a horn and brought it to his lips. Within seconds his black war wolf appeared behind him and Gad mounted. Nodding once more at the orc, Gad sped off towards the lumber mill. As he approached he saw the shapes of battle high up on the cliffs above. Before he began his climb up the road to the mill he spotted a troll fall off the cliff and land with a thud on the rocks below. Gad thought of riding to check on the troll but decided he was needed more where the battle was. As he reached the top of the hill he saw a the vicious melee taking place. Dead littered the ground. He dismounted right away, casted a shield around himself and immediatly looked for someone in need.....
The battle raged on. Gad casted spells and spoke prayers of healing for what seemed like an eternity. A tauren warrior fell to one knee, multiple arrows sticking out from all over his torso. Blood spilled from his nose and mouth. Several Alliance foes closed in on him. Gad quickly cast a shield on him, and then cast another spell to block out the pain that kept the tauren down. As the tauren got back to his feet, Gad then spoke a prayer and cast another spell of great healing. The tauren lunged forward, swinging his mighty sword, slashing down his opponents. Gad nodded and turned his attention to a fellow blood elf that was seriously wounded.....
CRACK!!!!
Gad's vision left him as the gnome smashed his large mace into the side of Gad's head. In reaction, Gad let out a physic scream which sent the gnome running in terror. Quickly trying to regain his senses, Gad spoke some prayers and his vision returned. He saw the gnome running and Gad immediatly began to reach out to the gnome's mind. Slowly he felt the gnomes thoughts. Soon he was inside the gnome's mind and controlled every action and thought. The gnome, with a blank look on his face, ran at full speed towards the cliff and threw himself off of it. Halfway towards the ground, Gad left the gnome's mind and went back to healing his comrades.
The day dragged on as the Horde forces neared victory. As they pushed for control of the stables, the Alliance put up a fierce defence. Gad was drained, and tired, but kept focused on the task at hand. A new surge of fresh Alliance soldiers and heros stormed down the hill and clashed with the Horde force. The impact shook the ground. Slowly the Horde lost its foothold on the stables. As Gad continued to heal his wounded brothers and cleanse them of dark magics, a bolt of lightening hit him from the side and coursed through his body. The pain was immense. He tried to heal himself but a massive fireball from another direction slammed into him with full force. Another bolt of lightning lifted Gad from his feet and he flew back several feet and landed with a thud on the banks of the nearby stream. Pain overcame Gad and his world went dark....
He heard water trickle by him. He felt wet. He felt pain.
Gad opened his eyes and starred at the stars above him. He raised his head and looked down. Half his body was suberged in the stream, his upper torso on the rocky bank. Gad sat up and brought his hands to his head. Warmth filled him and some of the pain left his body. He looked at his blood stained and burnt robes and shook his head. Reaching into his pack he grabbed a flask of water and took a long drink. He tried to get his bearings and realized he was west of the League base. He stood up and listened, the sounds of battle no longer there. He walked towards the bridge and strained in the darkness at the stables. Shapes moved and there was a small fire outside.
Voices. Human voices.
"Damn.."
The battle must not have gone the Defilers way. Gad backpeddled and walked towards the road. He reached into his back for his horn and blew it softly. He felt the presence of his wolf and he mounted and sped off towards the Den. He heard voices from across the water as he rode by the blacksmith. Again, they were human. As he approached the farm he slowed. Cautiously he rode along the road. He heard gutterspeak! The Horde had managed to hold onto the farm. He rode past the undead workers towards the house. There was a light on inside. He dismounted and looked inside. An undead rogue stood over a troll laying on the cot in the corner. Blood soaked the small bed. As Gad stepped in the rogue spun quickly, daggers at ready. When he saw Gad he relaxed.
"A priest! Can you help?" asked the rogue in a thick accent.
Gad approached the troll. It appeared the big shaman had bled out. Broken arrows pierced his torso, and a slug from a dwarven rifle had entered his throat.
"He's gone, but i'll see what I can do."
Gad summoned all his stregth and began to pray and cast a powerful spell. When he was finished the Troll did not move. Gad looked towards the rogue and noticed the two had the same tabbard on.
"I am sorry but he is gone. His soul has long left." spoke Gad quietly.
The undead stared at the troll with lifeless eyes and sat down at the table. He then looked at Gad.
"We thought you were dead."
Gad shook his head, "No. I am not sure what happened. Woke up in the stream down by the stables. Can't remember much of the battle...."
"You saved my life many times today. I won't forget that." spoke the rouge.
"Just doing my duty." answered Gad, "What happened?"
The rogue motioned for Gad to take a seat. After sitting the rogue looked at him and spoke.
"They got some fresh reinforcements. They hit us hard. Drove us all the way back to the blacksmith. We held out there for a while the got pushed back to the farm. The battle at the farm was brutal, but we held. We held then night came and the Alliance went home. Casualties were extreme."
A deep pain and anger began to take a spot on Gad's heart. So much wasted manpower. So many lives he saved, just to die a few hours later. He hung his head.
"This can't go on. How will Silvermoon or the Undercity ever be safe when the Horde leadership wastes all its resources and good soldiers on these pointless wars?"
The rogue looked at Gad. "We need the resources in the Basin and Alterac Valley. That's why we fight here."
"I know that. I would fight till I have no strength left. But the Horde leaders seem content to wrestle over these resources. We kill ourselves to capture them, only to give them back the next day. This "new" Horde needs to change its ways. In the old days, things would be done differently."
"You speak like a member of the Grin...." spoke the rogue.
Gad looked up. The Blacktooth Grin were outlaws. Renegades. Troublemakers. Well thats what the leaders in Silvermoon and Orgrimmar said.
The rogue went on..."Go listen to Gorfunch speak one day. I see him in the Undercity once in a while. He is an old orc but he has the fury of the Horde past in him. Reminds me of....well.....well of times past. The Dark Lady gives him and his clan protection. What's left of them anyways.....after Ironforge."
Gad was very interested now. He remembered hearing of the assault on Ironforge. From what he heard Thrall was outraged. Many said the Grin had gone too far. But at least they were fighting for something that was worth it. Fighting to make some kind of progress. Gad stood up.
"Where can I find the Grin?"
The rogue shrugged. "Not sure. After Ironforge they have been laying low from what I hear. Although, last I heard they were wrapped up in that nasty war out in Hellfire...." before the rogue could finish Gad was gone. "Don't forget about us here in the Basin." finished the undead assassin.
"I won't..." came a voice outside.
Gad rode until he was back in Hammerfall. He would seek out the Grin. This clan that fought to make a difference. Led my an orc that cared little for politics. Even after losing many of their numbers, they still went on and fought. He had heard of the recent reports of a war starting to rage in the Outlands. Falcon Watch itself had been decimated by most recent reports.
Silvermoon needed the Horde. And it seemed the Horde needed a clan like the Grin to get it back on track. Politics called Gad back to Silvermoon. Luckily these politics would take Gad on a trip to Falcon Watch. And there he would begin to seek out these Grin.
